Hallmark Hall of Fame Adopts a Winner

Hallmark Hall of Fame fast tracked A Dog Named Christmas for a holiday debut. Haven't read the book? The title is a clue but after seeing the film, you'll know why the rush.

The storyline was so compelling that an inspired reader in Florida - who worked at a veterinary clinic - actually took on the roll suggested in the story - putting out a call to foster a homeless pet for the holidays. Not only did all the clinic pets get fostered - there was a waiting list.

If one person can make that kind of result, with a wider audience, there might be a few more takers and thousands of pets who will benefit.

In real life - when author Greg Kincaid suggested the idea of fostering a shelter pet for the holidays - the response was not that encouraging... or a sign he was onto something... depending upon your viewpoint. According to The Kansas City Star - two shelter workers told him - "it's not the way they do things"...

And that was then. Now - with the help of Petfinder.com and Hallmark - there are hopes that lots of shelter pets will get a holiday pass to share a few days amongst happy families... and beyond that - they might wind up in forever homes. The show airs Sunday on CBS - a preview. Or scroll down.

*More on Holiday Fostering -- a great idea that just needed a bit of holiday spot light!

Shadow and Licorice

Give Thanks For Each Day

I love my work with the animals and am grateful for all they’ve taught me. The most difficult, yet most rewarding, times are those that involve their desire to transition and return Home. To be asked to assist a soul during this significant event is the greatest honor.

My connection with the soul as it releases from the body is a rare privilege. The sense of freedom, joy and exhilaration felt is beyond our language. Knowing this still doesn’t lessen my grief over losing a dear friend or family member, but it definitely influences my acceptance of their choice. Transition is solely determined by the soul’s wishes, as hard as that is to believe.

A friend is awaiting the transition of her brother from the ravages of cancer. Sending my folks Home in 2000, while devastating, followed a natural order. My friend’s brother is in his late forties with two teenagers, which makes the acceptance of his choice truly challenging. I’m grateful to have been asked to help prepare his soul for this momentous journey.

I’m thankful to all the animals and people that have supported me, loved me and helped me heal these past five years. I’m thankful for my good health for without it nothing else really matters. I know my friend would trade all she’s acquired in life for a healthy brother. Cherish your family & friends, both animal & human, for we never know when they’ll make that ultimate decision….

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Temporal Tapping with Yvette Eastman - part 3

So you have decided to try Temporal Tapping. What exactly can you say when you tap?

Make a positive statement as you tap around the left ear. When you tap on the left side, you are “talking” to the right side of the brain. It understands what you want and accepts the affirmative statement. When tapping around the right ear make a “negative-positive” statement. The left brain (Right side) processes double negatives things better, while the right brain processes the positive better.

Before you start tapping on the right side, you need to phrase a “negative positive” statement. There is no reason why I can’t be a non-barker.” “Nothing can stop me from having all the freedom I need to meet my needs.” “There is no reason why I can’t be an excellent agility dog.” You don’t have to be fancy; just rephrase your original sentence so it has that “negative positivity”.

Repeat it at least three times as you tap. You can make these suggestions aloud or silently.

Even though your animal does not understand your words, his brain will start to tune out the old way and anchor the new one. Focus on what part of your companion’s life you most want to change, and create a simple affirmation that reflects your highest ideals. It is a simple yet powerful way to change many patterns or habits.

Left side uses phrases like:
I am...
I am free to...
I do...
It is easy for me to...
I am very good at...
I feel better when...
I want to...
I deserve...
I want to be... (to have...)
It is safe for me to...
I feel comfortable with...

Right side uses phrases like:
I am not...
I don’t have any problem with...
There is no any reason why I can’t...
It is not hard for me to...
I don’t need (_____) to feel okay...
It is not true that...
There is no reason why I must...
There’s no reason why I can’t be...
I am not limited by not being...having...
I am not disturbed (scared) to...
There's no reason why my master can’t control me...

Are you skeptical? Well consider this: It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t have a drug’s side effects, and it may provide change in a situation that so far has not changed nor improved.

Temporal Tapping with Yvette Eastman - part 2

Yvette Eastman is the founder-director and instructor of Touchpoint Institute of Reflexology and Kinesthetics, for all levels of Reflexology, Specialized Kinesiology, EFT, and Pawspoint Reflexology for Animals. Her newest book is, “So You Think You Know Reflexology…?

Part 2 of Temporal Tapping -- Realize that animals live in the present and don’t carry a bunch of beliefs. They interpret sounds and body language and react to those and to their nature, which often deals with dominance. Each animal looks for a leader. They would prefer that it not be them. But if you cannot lead, they will take on the role. Many behaviors are due to this alone.

First you must identify a habit, attitude, or condition, used by your dog, cat or horse that you would like to change. Realize that they are not disturbed by those things that bother you, and don’t understand them.

Dogs bark to attempt to talk to and alert humans. All animals mark territory. They attack to protect you, especially when you are tied to their leash. They submit to give you leadership.

Think of a single sentence that describes that change you would like, as if that condition had already happened. “I am a non-barker.” “I always wait for you at the door before running out” “I am excellent in the ring.” Affirmations can be anything you wish to become true and operative in their life and yours. They can be specific or general, and in your own language, aligned with your own values. Make them short and to the point.

To tap correctly, begin at the front of the ears, then tap forward and in an ellipse above the ear, then around the back of the ear, then forward to your starting place. The tapping should be brisk enough to have the fingers bounce off the skull, but not cause pain. Tapping with all your fingertips bunched together ensures that all the points along the Temporal-Sphenoidal (T-S) line are stimulated. Say your affirmation while you tap; repeat this procedure at least three times around each ear.

Continuing Tomorrow - Part 3 - with details of what to say and how to direct the words.

Guest Blogger Yvette Eastman shares behavior mod with Tapping - for Pets

When I have an opportunity to share insightful information from guest bloggers, I jump at the chance. Today's post is "Change Negative Habits in Animals with Temporal Tapping" By Yvette Eastman

Yvette Eastman is the founder-director and instructor of Touchpoint Institute of Reflexology and Kinesthetics, for all levels of Reflexology, Specialized Kinesiology, EFT, and Pawspoint Reflexology for Animals.

She has written a variety of books on different modes of reflexology and teaches classes in all of them. Check her web site: www.touchpointreflexology.com. Her newest book, “So You Think You Know Reflexology…?” is a compilation of writings by famous reflexologists and complementary practitioners.

What is the Temporal Tap? From Yvette -

The Temporal Tap is an old technique that was actually shown me by an elderly naturopath. His information came from the early 1930’s and was very useful to repair vertebrae that were out of alignment. The method has grown since then. Dentists have been using it for years when their patients have a serious gag reflex. A few rounds of tapping and the patient is relaxed and comfortable.

I know how well it works for people. It is just as effective for animals. In actuality, the temporal tap is a way of "reprogramming" the brain. It stimulates receptors and neuropathways responsible for old habits. By tapping this location while intending the belief we want, we can "update our brain's operating system."

I have used it whenever a person or an animal was of “two minds” about something. He wants the neighbors kids to play with him, but he can’t stop barking. He wants to quit making you angry when he chases cars but his brain must chase a moving object. She may want to quit being aggressive but then who will protect you? She is so happy to see you and then she piddles. When you or your companion want do something but haven’t, there is a conscious or subconscious benefit to avoiding change.

Tomorrow's post continues the explanation of what Temporal Tapping is. Wednesday we get a few tips on how to use it. - to be continued.

Timing is Everything

A wise man once told me, “Truth isn’t truth out of timing.” Once I uncovered my skills in telepathic communication, the doorway to universal truths and unlimited possibilities cracked open. Teachers, who’d been awaiting my breakthrough, no doubt rejoiced that my rigid, left-brained paradigm was changing.

While the honing of my new talent took time and discipline, I was blessed with fabulous animal teachers who moved my learning curve along quite swiftly. Of course, everything is relative. My progress seemed rapid to my human teacher, although my animal partners were probably amazed at long it took me to consciously recognize something I’d been doing for years – and lifetimes.

While I had been learning from my animals, my newfound ability escalated my education. Much like in school, where each successive year builds upon the previous ones, I shot from kindergarten through graduate school quickly.

My truth was being unveiled in perfect timing, and the results were astounding. My recognition of and dedication to my life’s purpose sent an invitation throughout the animal world.

Master animal teachers sought me out every time I needed to open to new truths that were no longer “out of timing” for me. These generous souls’ lessons allow me to offer solutions to my clients for a myriad of physical, emotional and spiritual challenges.

I’ll be highlighting many of my key teachers throughout my columns. You may begin to recognize some of your own master animal teachers. Perhaps, your time has come. Is your truth changing?

Wind Chime Wisdom

“There is always music amongst the trees… but our hearts must be
very quiet to hear it.”

This wind chime found me during my excursion to pick out my new Lab pups. Given the fact that my log house is nestled “amongst the trees,” the wisdom is even more personal.

Not only our hearts, but more importantly, our minds must be still. Shutting down our litany of thoughts is a key factor in unlocking telepathic communication. For me, it was the most difficult part of animal communication.

Being responsible for a veterinary office, equine hospital and horse farm kept me running all day. My mind was consumed with thousands of thoughts, maybe tens of thousands. How do you control that?

My teacher suggested color meditation. This technique entertained my mind while I ignored my thoughts. It was extremely difficult, but my need to talk to animals gave me the patience and discipline necessary.

I hadn’t an extra minute to spare, but because of my deep desire to communicate, I made time. I meditated twice daily keeping those pesky thoughts at bay longer and longer while locked away in my bedroom. Looking back, I smile at the isolation I needed then.

By quieting our minds and hearts, we can touch that place within where our true intelligence resides. With quiet hearts and minds, we can hear the subtle messages of the animals & plants, the divas & faeries, the water spirits & elementals. When our thoughts cease, the door to our soul bursts open.

Divine Ice - Paul Nicklen gives us a glimpse of Arctic wonder

~ I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.
- John Burroughs -

Polar Obsession. What an amazing treasure awaits with this book! Paul Nicklen is my guest Thursday, 11/12/09, on Conscious Living.

The ice encrusted world he explores and shares through his lens is absolutely breathtaking. And beyond that, his encounters with the wildlife who thrive in that arctic Eden are priceless.

This is a world most cannot engage - even on an extreme tourist trip...an ecosystem that changes as we continue to remove and/or damage all that supports it. The world Paul showcases requires a certain indomitable aptitude and ability to navigate, as well as a robust physical nature and a body thermostat comfortably set at Ice Cube.

One of the Perks

Having recently returned from the sun and surf of Aruba, I’ve just benefited from one of the perks of being an animal communicator. Even though I know I’ve left my animal family in good hands, all they know is that I’m GONE.

As I leave the barn, I share my plans with Stormy. Hana and Saba watch me remove their crates from the car and pack my suitcase, so they’re unhappy and worried. I share my plans with them plus an explanation about vacations just before I go.

Once I get to my destination, I tell them that I’ve arrived. I usually don’t communicate again until starting back unless I get an intuitive feeling to check-in. I know they miss me, but they cope better because they understand that I’ll be back. It helps me too by assuaging any guilt I’m feeling about leaving them.

Several years ago I called to tell my pet sitter that I was heading home and asked how things were. She replied, “Licorice has been barking a lot and acting really lively the past two days.” I chuckled and admitted that I’d told him about my return two days earlier. He was almost 15. Having lost his brother five months earlier, I’d worried about leaving him and checked-in numerous times.

I still get blown away every time I hear unsolicited proof that telepathic communication works. Being able to communicate with my animals does make vacations easier on all involved. Try it!

Siberians in Kansas

It's a big day with the Big Cats when they are introduced to new habitat.

Mohan and Rajah live at Cedar Cove in Louisbug, Kansas. - Cedar Cove is a non-profit organization devoted to the care and preservation of endangered large cats while educating the public on their behavior, physiology, habitats and the threats & dangers of extinction.

The two cats like to play in the water but they don't focus on that in this clip.
